Christmas Walk support is appreciated

Published: Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

The 24th annual Dixon Christmas Walk was a major success again this year. With a crowd estimated to be more than 5,000 people, downtown Dixon was filled with plenty of holiday cheer.

A huge thank you to all of the downtown shop owners and our special guests who helped to make the night magical. Our presenting sponsor again this year was the Dixon Chamber of Commerce, which has supported the Christmas Walk every year since its beginning.

Thanks to Dixon Paint Co., ACE Hardware, and Dixon Tourism for sponsoring the Great Snowball Drop and to all of the businesses that donated prizes for the event. The DHS Madrigal singers popped in and out of shops throughout the night, and the Rock River Valley Barbershoppers and Patti Balayti led the community Christmas caroling.

Thanks to KSB Hospital, Reagan Middle School Choir, 3D Sound, and the Dixon Fire Department for a great tree lighting ceremony, and thanks to the Lee County Irish Heritage Society for sponsoring Santa’s reindeer. And speaking of Santa, the Living Well Church in the Mini Mall did an amazing job with their pictures with Santa, and a special thanks to Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus for making the trip to Dixon.

Thanks to Raynor, Kitzmans, Dixon Ford, Centurylink, Hicks Insurance, John Deere Historical Site, Griffin Computer and the city of Dixon for their sponsorship of the event.

And, of course, a big thanks to the Dixon Main Street volunteers for their hard work in planning and executing this great event and to all the volunteers who helped the other community organizations and businesses taking part.

Mark your calendar now for the special 25th anniversary Christmas Walk on Dec. 6, 2013.

Note to readers – Josh Albrecht is the executive director of Dixon Main Street.
