CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Norman Edward Dohlen, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy after a long illness.

Norman was born May 6, 1931, in Mount Morris, the son of John and Ethel (Gilbert) Dohlen. He married Arlene Otis on March 15, 1958, in Mount Morris.

Norman is survived by his wife; two sons, Bradley (Debbie) of DeKalb and John (Aminta) of Kent, Wash.; daughter Susan (Mark) Houy of Marion; eight grandchildren; brother Gilbert (Doris) of Rockford; and sisters Elaine Blume and Dolores Stykel, both of Freeport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Diane Schott-Dohlen; brothers-in-law Dallas Blume and Melvin Stykel; a niece and a nephew.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Edgewood Family Fellowship, with the Revs. Craig Bex, Roger Goodson, and Mark Larson officiating. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Teahen Funeral Home handled arrangements.
