OTTAWA – Frances Willene McCombs Ritchie, 74, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, Dec.21, 2012, at Ottawa Pavilion.

Frances was born Dec. 26, 1937, in Sterling, to Mary E. and Clair Covell. She later was adopted by Mary’s second husband, David L. McCombs. She graduated from Rock Falls Township High School in 1955. She married Frank A. Ritchie on Feb. 14, 1956, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls.

Frances worked as a manager at Burger King. She and her husband owned and operated the Silver Frost for many years. She was a Cub Scout leader for 17 years and was a member of the PTA.

Frances is survived by her husband, Frank; three sons, Gregg (Lisa) Ritchie of Ottawa, Gary (Kathy) Ritchie of Roanoke, and Scott Ritchie of Seneca; four daughters, Teresa Grieves, Corinna Ritchie, and Nicole Ritchie, all of Ottawa, and Denise (David) Hillyer of Streator; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia (Don) Stranberg and Merrilee (Bob) McCue, both of Sterling; and one brother, John (Linda) McCombs of Pelham, Ala.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jeff; one sister, Sandra Druien; and a nephew, Michael Druien.

Pallbearers will be Jason Grieves, Patrick Grieves, David Ritchie, Andrew Ritchie, Nicholas Ritchie, and Ryan Williams.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Ottawa Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Columba Church, with the Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery.
