David E. ‘George’ Baker

ROCK FALLS – David E. “George” Baker, 60, of Rock Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Rock Falls Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Jan. 16, 1952, in Fairbanks, Alaska, the son of David W. and Georgia (Lloyd) Laflin. He was adopted in 1956 at the age of 4 by Donald and Norma Baker of Nelson. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, from August 1970 to October 1971.

Surviving are his adoptive father, Donald Baker of Thomson; his adopted sisters, Michele (Ray) Gonzales of Nelson, Kim (Fred) Dodd of Rock Falls and Kris (Steve) Kimpel of Polo;  his adoptive brothers, Brian (Jennifer) Baker of Rock Falls and Todd (Amy) Baker of Thomson; his sisters, Peggy Davis of Shenandoah Valley, Va., Kelly Davis of Las Vegas, and Tammy Reid of Washington state; and his half brothers, Steve, Larry and Ed Ross.

He was preceded in death by his biological father and his adoptive mother.

The memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Rock River Christian Center in Rock Falls, with the Rev. Brian Vickers officiating.

Arrangements were handled by McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory.
