Erie 62, Galva 46: The Cardinals won their opener in their own tournament, jumping out to a 37-23 lead by halftime and never looking back.

Peyton Rus scored 13 points, and Paige Rus and Courtney Cobert added 10 each for Erie (9-2). Rachel Cobert added eight points and 13 rebounds, and Laykin Miner chipped in seven points, six rebounds, six steals and four assists.

Bowling

Oregon 4th at BNC Meet: The Hawks placed four bowlers in the top 10 individually and finished fourth in the seven-team Big Northern Meet at Town & Country Lanes in Mount Morris.

Oregon's total pinfall was 4,235, 11 behind third-place Mendota (4,246). Marengo won the meet with 5,295, and Rockford Christian was second with 4,408.

Senior Amber Tucker led the Hawks with a sixth-place finish, racking up a 1,007 six-game series highlighted by a 199 high game. Freshman MacKenzie Tague was eighth with a 969 that also included a 199 high game, and junior Karissa Corbin was 10th with a 926.

Marengo's Dominique Bailey won the individual title with a 1,205 series; she started off with games of 205 and 216, then closed the day with a 225 game.
