Senior Vivian Villegas, 17, of Dixon, is Dixon High School’s September Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Deanne Droege-Villegas, of Dixon, and Evaristo Villegas, of Sterling.

Favorite class: Biology 2. The teacher, Mr. Clark, is our Envirothon team coach. All of the material covered in class will help in competition this spring. Last year, our team placed seventh at state.

Favorite teacher: Martha Mauch, math. I’ve had the pleasure of working with her for 3 years. She makes math easy to understand and gives you every tool that you need to succeed. I wouldn’t be surviving AP Calculus without her!

Extracurriculars: Class president, Key Club president, Student Council, National Honor Society, Envirothon Team, Band (drum major), Madrigals, Jazz Choir, spring musical, volleyball, cheerleading and 2012 Petunia Festival Queen.

After graduation: I hope to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison to study occupational therapy.

Best friend: Rachel Musser and I have been best friends since we were 3, and I know that no matter what, she’s there for me. Kenzie Wolfley is in a lot of the same extracurriculars as me, together we can accomplish anything.

Favorite singer: Taylor Swift.

Favorite actor: Emma Stone.

Favorite movie: “National Treasure.”

Favorite TV show: “Gilmore Girls.”

Hobbies: I love to sing. My favorite place to be is on the stage.

Favorite game or outdoor activity: Playing cards with Aunt Connie. Gin rummy is my favorite.

Favorite food: Angelo’s spaghetti pizza.

Favorite place to shop: Macy’s; it has the best shoe department.

Biggest fear: Failure.

Pet peeve: People tapping their feet or fingers loudly during school.

Haunts: Applebee’s and Sauk Valley 8 Carmike Cinema is my favorite for date night.

I’m in the dictionary next to: Smile. Share one and you can brighten someone’s day.

Secret twin: Selena Gomez. She is a singer, who also does a lot of work with UNICEF. With Key Club, I trick-or-treat for UNICEF every Halloween.

Personal trivia: I love to run. Last year my cousins and I did a 5K every month. My favorite was the Hot Chocolate Run in Chicago.

Dream job: Occupational therapist, specifically in a school district. It really combines my love of science and working with children.

Trading places: Kate Middleton. She has the best wardrobe and she’s married to Prince William. What else can you ask for?

Trading spaces: New York. I want to see a musical on Broadway.

Read this: “Sarah’s Key” by Tatiana de Rosnay. It is a historical fiction novel that takes place during the Holocaust. The book switches back and forth between a young girl in 1942 France and a present day American journalist. Their stories are beautifully intertwined.

Favorite trend: I’m a big fan of riding boots. I wear mine constantly.

Favorite website: I waste far too much time on Facebook.

What would you do if you had $100,000?: Travel the world. So far, I’ve been to London and Costa Rica. I still need to see Paris, Rome, Greece, and many, many more!

What do you wish your high school offered?: More college prep opportunities.

What’s a tip you would give freshmen for making high school life easier? Don’t be afraid to talk to upperclassmen, they can give you the best advice.

Shout out to: My mom. She goes above and beyond for me, and I can never thank her enough. And my dad. He’s at EVERY game, awards banquet, and performance (video camera in hand).
