Ruth A. Roman-Wagner

PROPHETSTOWN – Ruth A. Roman-Wagner, 92, of Prophetstown, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown. She and her first husband owned and operated Roman’s Tavern in Prophetstown.

She was born Aug. 29, 1920, in Lebanon, Kan., to Jesse S. and Daisy L. (King) Sutton. She married Harley A. Roman on Feb. 5, 1946, in Lyndon; he died Feb. 22, 1971. She married Marvin F. Wagner on Dec. 27, 1974, in Las Vegas; he died Nov. 15, 1986.

She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Prophetstown.

She is survived by her daughter, Jane (David) Morris, and son-in-law, Donald Shuman, both of Prophetstown; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Trudy Shuman; sisters Geneva Sutton, Eleanor Church and one in infancy; and brothers Forest, Donald and Chester Sutton.

Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by the funeral at 2 p.m., at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Prophetstown, with the Rev. Gale Brandner, pastor of Walnut United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown.
