Warriors win again in DeKalb

The Sterling Golden Warriors improved to 2-0 at the Chuck Dayton
Tournament in DeKalb, downing Thornridge 68-63 in the second round of pool play
Saturday.

Zach Rehmert scored 25 points for the
Warriors (6-5), hitting three 3-pointers and making eight of his 10 free throws. Zack Everett finished with 16 points and eight rebounds, and Tre Whittaker chipped in seven boards for
Sterling.

The Warriors led 16-13 after one quarter, then held a 43-35 advantage after a high-scoring second period. Sterling held on through the second half to make the first-half lead stand up.

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
