The Warriors led 16-13 after one quarter, then held a 43-35 advantage after a high-scoring second period. Sterling held on through the second half to make the first-half lead stand up.
Wilmington 74, Dixon 51: The Dukes led 10-5 after one quarter and 26-24 at halftime, but were outscored 50-25 in the second half in a first-round game at Plano.
Cal Jarrett scored 19 points, Laron Carr had 15, and Kyle LeBlanc added 11 for Dixon (2-9). Jarrett also contributed seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals, while LeBlanc grabbed six boards.
Dan O’Leary led Wilmington with 26 points, and Nick Anderson scored 25.
Morrison 38, Stark County 29: The Mustangs used a 9-3 third-quarter run to pull away at the Warkins Cardinal Classic.
Alex Volckmann and Hunter Hamstra scored 14 points apiece to pace Morrison (3-11). Tanner King scored 10 for the Rebels.
Stockton 53, Erie 35: The host Cardinals led 13-6 after one quarter, but scored just 22 points the rest of the way in an opening loss in their own tournament.
Jacob Johnston scored 12 points and Owen McConnell had 11 for Erie (9-4). Trent Schubert led the Blackhawks (6-1) with 18 points.
Bureau Valley 70, Wethersfield 55: Parker Neuhalfen poured in 30 points to lead the Storm to victory at the Warkins Cardinal Classic.
Tommy Johnston chipped in 18 points for BV (10-5), which hit 22 field goals and made 22 of its 29 free throws.
Trevor Lay led the Geese with 20 points.
