Senior McKenna Pearson, 17, of Sterling, is one of Sterling High School’s November Students of the Month. She is the daughter of Danelle Pearson of Sterling; her sister is Mya Pearson, 13, an eighth-grader at Challand Middle School.

Favorite class: AP Biology. That’s my intended college major.

Favorite teacher: Steve Johnson, chemistry. He’s very interactive and he always surprises you.

Extracurriculars: Volleyball, basketball and softball; Math Team, WYSE (Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering) Team, Key Club, National Honor Society and Student Council.

After graduation: I’ve applied to Marquette University in Milwaukee and Creighton University in Omaha. I’ll be pre-med.

Best friend: Jennifer Rahn. We’ve been friends since second grade, and we’ve played sports together since then. We’re just always with each other.

Favorite singer: Montell Jordan.

Favorite actor: NeNe Leakes, who plays Coach Roz on “Glee.”

Favorite movie: “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Favorite TV show: “American Horror Story.”

Hobbies: Hanging out with my boyfriend and friends.

Favorite game or outdoor activity: Basketball.

Favorite food: Macaroni and cheese from Cracker Barrel.

Favorite place to shop: Forever 21.

Favorite website: Pinterest. I’m obsessed.

One last favorite: My favorite person is my mom.

Biggest fear: Being in the ocean with sharks.

Pet peeve: When people don’t use their turn signals.

What trend do you wish would go away? Boys wearing skinny jeans. I hate it. Boys aren’t meant to wear skinny jeans.

Haunts: After games, my friends and I go to McDonald’s. Otherwise, we always hang out in my basement.

I’m in the dictionary next to: Humorous. I’m very sarcastic and clever.

Personal trivia: I’m competitive about everything.

Dream job: I want to work for NASA just to say I’m a rocket scientist.

Trading places: I would trade places with Dr. Kenneth Turley, an anesthesiologist at CGH Medical Center, just to make sure that’s the career I want to go into.

Trading spaces: The beaches in South Africa. They’re really cool down there.

Read this: I’m in the beginning of “Julius Caesar” by William Shakespeare – or really anything Shakespeare. He uses clever words. There’s always humor, even if the stories end up bad. And they’re historical, too.

What would you do if you had $100,000? I would pay for school. I’d buy a new car, too.

What do you wish your high school offered? Lacrosse or more challenging science classes, like anatomy.

What’s a tip you would give freshmen for making high school life easier? Try hard from the beginning because your freshman year counts just as much as your senior year.

Shout out to: The Scholls of Polo.
