Indians run by Rockets

The Indians jumped out to a 30-15 lead after one period and didn’t look back in the Big Northern West tilt.

Jace Anderson hit three 3s and led Rock Falls (7-3, 0-2) with 19 points, while Austin Donoho chipped in 18. Jacoby Posley led Winnebago (9-0, 2-0) with 20 and hit two of its 10 3s.

Newman 47, Bureau Valley 39: Kyle Moore scored 14 points and A.J. Sharp added 13, as the Comets rallied past the Storm in Manlius.

Newman (7-2, 3-1 Three Rivers) trailed 32-29 entering the final quarter before pulling out the win.

Parker Neuhalfen led Bureau Valley (9-5, 2-2) with 14 points, Tommy Johnston had 11 and Brian Lange added 10.

Girls basketball

Stockton 54, Polo 32: Emily Langfield sank five of the Blackhawks’ 11 3-pointers as they romped past the Marcos in an NUIC crossover clash at Stockton.

Langfield scored a game-high 15 points for the Blackhawks (7-4). Aleetra Roberts led Polo (3-10) with 12 points. Brecken Albrecht added eight.

Riverdale 76, West Carroll 31: Elle May and Hannah Nimrick led the Rams on their home floor with 22 and 19 points, respectively.

Kaylee Vos led West Carroll (2-7) with nine points in the nonconference game. Riverdale (9-2) led 45-15 at the half.

Wrestling

United Township 54, Dixon 24: The Dukes collected four pins but lost a nonconference meet at The Pit.

Dixon sophomore Trent Scott was the fastest to squeeze his opponent, earning a pin with 36 seconds left in the first round of the 182-pound bout. The Dukes forfeited three matches.

Boys bowling

Rochelle 3,443, Dixon 3,367: If not for a Hubs hiccup in the middle game, the Dukes might have been swept in a Northern Illinois Big 12 meet on the road.

Brandon Bonnette had a meet-best 662 series (254-229-179) for the Dukes, who only took two conference points, coming in a 1,138-986 victory in Game 2.

Girls bowling

Dixon 2,711, Rock Island 2,307: The Duchesses improved to 7-1 in duals with a comfortable victory on the road.
