SWAT teams storm home looking for escaped inmates

TINLEY PARK (AP) — The FBI says the two escaped federal jail inmates were not inside the suburban Chicago house that SWAT teams stormed. But they say that there were signs the men had been there hours earlier.

FBI Special Agent Frank Bochte said Tuesday that investigators were still processing the scene at the Tinley Park home for evidence. He also says that federal, state and local law enforcement agencies were fanning out across the Chicago area, focusing on spots where the two might have lived or where friends and relatives live. He says police helicopters and canine units are being used.

The two convicted bank robbers escaped Tuesday from the Metropolitan Corrections Center in downtown Chicago early, apparently squeezing through a narrow window and descending approximately 20 stories using a rope.
