DEKALB (AP) — A fraternity has suspended its chapter at Northern Illinois University after police charged nearly two dozen members with hazing-related counts in the death of a freshman.
Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity Vice President Justin Buck says the DeKalb school's Eta Nu chapter has been administratively suspended.
Warrants were issued Monday for 22 members. The warrants were filed after David Bogenberger was found unresponsive at the fraternity house on Nov. 2 after what police say was a night of drinking. His blood alcohol content was about five times the legal driving limit.
Buck sought to distance the fraternity from any actions by the local chapter that might have involved alcohol and hazing in initiation ceremonies.
He said the fraternity would cooperate in pursuing anyone who broke the law.
