Filing deadline nears in Rock Falls

ROCK FALLS – Candidates have started filing petitions to run for office in April’s municipal elections.

In Rock Falls, incumbent Mayor David Blanton is being challenged by City Clerk Bill Wescott.

Three candidates have filed paperwork to run for city clerk: Edward Mulvaney, Eric Arduini and Pam Martinez.

In Ward 1, Alderman Mark Vandersnick, who is running for re-election, has filed paperwork. Incumbent Alderman Jim Schuneman has filed papers for election in Ward 3.

Election packets for Rock Falls municipal offices can be picked up at the city clerk’s office, 603 W. 10th St. Packets can be returned through 5 p.m. Dec. 26. City Hall will be closed Dec. 24 and 25.

Sterling’s filing deadline passed Nov. 26. Two Sterling alderman-at-large positions are up for re-election, for which four candidates filed: John Stauter, Christopher Schuchard, Linda Marley and Javier Padilla.
