Obituaries

Catherine P. Weir

MESA, Ariz. – Catherine Patricia Weir, 88, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Amboy and San Benito, Texas, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at home with family.

She was born March 16, 1924, in Sublette, the daughter of Leo and Mary (Clark) Lauer.  She married George W. Weir on Dec. 2, 1950, in Amboy. She worked for First National Bank in Amboy and Lee County Extension Office. She was a Cub Scout leader and homemaker. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy and Our Lady, Queen of the Universe Catholic Church in San Benito.  

She is survived by four sons, Michael (Jean) Weir of Cocoa, Fla., William (Pamela) Weir of Amboy, John (Elizabeth) Weir of DeKalb, and Robert (Judy) Weir of Knoxville, Tenn.; two daughters, Elizabeth Weir (Rob Horner) of Mesa, and Constance (Mike) Isogaya of Japan; eight grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; a great-grandson; a step-great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Mary Dickinson of Amboy, and Marge Reed of Topeka, Kan. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, on June 20, 2011; her parents; and a sister, Ellen Lauer.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Monsignor Thomas Bales, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Peru City Cemetery. Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy handled arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to The LoveHouse in Phoenix, a home for abused and neglected girls and a cause Mom supported since moving to Arizona.
