Prophetstown's Carter Ames had 15 points, but his kid brother, Grant, hit the putback that forced overtime in the Prophets' 58-56 win over Ridgewood on Saturday at the ROWVA-Ridgewood tournament.

It was the sophomore's only bucket of the game, and Ethan Howard hit the winner with 30 seconds left in the extra session. Neither team won a period by more than two points, and the Prophets ended their tourney experience with a fourth straight victory.

Devin Johnson scored 13 points for the Prophets (9-3), and Zach Inskeep posted eight points and tied with Howard with a game-high nine rebounds.

West Carroll tournament

Scales Mound 47, West Carroll 44: The Thunder were outscored 41-26 over the final three periods of the fifth-place game on their home floor.

Travis Hartman led West Carroll (3-7) with 14 points, while brothers Josh and Stephen Corte paced Scales Mound (6-3) with 19 and nine points, respectively. The latter scored seven in the fourth quarter.

Fulton 62, Warren 41: The Steamers doubled their win total by nearly tripling up the Warriors in the middle periods of the seventh-place game.

Fulton (2-10) trailed 14-8 after one quarter before outscoring Warren (4-9) 34-13 in the second and third. T.J. Huizenga scored a game-high 13 points for the Steamers, who shot 16-for-22 from the line as a team.

Colmone Classic

Bureau Valley 68, Hall 66: The Storm hit just enough free throws to pull out a victory in the Colmone Classic fifth-place game.

After entering the fourth period with a 53-42 lead over Hall, Bureau Valley hit three of nine free-throw attempts down the stretch to survive.

Frank Gebeck paced the Storm with 19 points, and Parker Neuhalfen added 16. Hall senior Brett Fanning led all scorers with 29, 11 of them coming during the Red Devils' fourth-period rally.

Men's basketball

Sauk Valley 70, DuPage 53: Russ Damhoff was impressed. Not necessarily with his team's shooting, but more so its ability to bounce back from two overtime losses in the same night to win the Highland tournament seventh-place game.

"We had a lot of high hopes going into the tournament, and it's hard to come off a day when you lose two overtime games," Damhoff said Saturday evening. "But I thought our guys did a nice job handling that, and I definitely think we've improved.
