Sauk drops two in OT

Daven Ottley forced the first of two overtimes Sauk Valley would play in the opening day of the Highland Tournament in Freeport, but the Skyhawks lost their first-round game 87-84 loss to Iowa Central.

Ottley, a 6-foot-8 native of the British Virgin Islands, scored at the end of regulation to tie the score at 71-71 and finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds.

Jalen Riley led Sauk Valley with 28 points, while Magd Owayed added 13 points and 12 boards, Jalen Jones had 10 points, and Carlos Hendrix added 11 assists, eight points and four steals.

Sauk Valley concluded the first day of the tourney with another OT loss 80-78 to Lakeland in the consolation bracket.

Riley poured in 31 points to pace the Skyhawks (6-5), Ottley posted another double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Owayed and Hendrix each scored 11 points. Hendrix added eight assists.
