Rochelle man charged with two more burglaries

OREGON – A Rochelle man who had already been charged in connection with a burglary at an Ashton bar last month now faces more charges in Lee and Ogle counties.
On Tuesday, Ogle County deputies charged Mitchell R. Jacobson, 25, with two counts of burglary for break-ins at Mopar City, 6309 E. Brick Road, in Oregon, and Chana Tap, 104 Center Ave., both on Nov. 5.
He has not yet appeared in court on the new charges.
In Lee County, Mitchell was charged this week with two counts of burglary in connection with break-ins at Dave’s Automotive and Ashton Foods on Nov. 9.
He was in the Lee County Jail on Friday on a $75,000 bond. He will have a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
Jacobson has been in jail since Nov. 19, the day, deputies say, he and co-defendant Landon S. Kempson, 20, of Kings, broke into Side Track Bar, 912 Main St., and stole bottles of alcohol.
Both were charged with burglary. Additionally, Jacobson was charged with obstructing identification, a misdemeanor, and Kempson was charged with unlawful use of weapons, also a misdemeanor.
Deputies say Kempson had a set of brass knuckles in his pocket when he was arrested. He will be back in court Thursday for a pretrial conference.
Kempson has not been charged with the other Ashton and Ogle County break-ins. Ogle County Sheriff Michael Harn said in a news release that he did not expect more arrests.
Lee County Sheriff John Varga said his department is investigating several burglaries in the Ashton-Franklin Grove area.
