Robert L. Wheat

MESA, Ariz. – Robert L. “Bob” Wheat, 88, of Mesa, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Banner Desert Hospital in Mesa, Ariz. He was a Scottsdale School District teacher in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Robert was born June 2, 1924, in Prophetstown, the son of Glenn and Beth (Emery) Wheat. He served in the Navy during World War II. He married Shirley A. Mier on June 7, 1975.

Survivors include his wife; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Randolph and Barbara Mier, both of Mesa; and two brothers-in-law, David (Mary Ruth) Mier and Donald (Marilyn) Mier, both of Terre Haute, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Glenn Wheat Jr. 

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m., followed by the funeral at 2 p.m., Tuesday at Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home, 320 Lafayette St., Prophetstown, with the Rev. Andy Ploenzke, pastor of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Prophetstown, officiating.

Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown.

A memorial has been established.
