Representation absent from losing candidate

On Monday afternoon, members of the Rockford Sons of Liberty – a local liberal response to the Rockford Tea Party – joined our friends from the area’s MoveOn.org leadership council and displaced employees from Freeport’s Sensata Tech plant No. 4 to petition for the “fiscal cliff” middle-class tax breaks outside Congressman Don Manzullo’s shuttered and abandoned office.

Even though Manzullo has been very willing to cash his taxpayer-funded paychecks after he lost his primary election against Adam Kinzinger, he apparently didn’t think the money came with any further responsibilities to us, the congressional district’s taxpayers.

It would appear that after taking our money, the congressman has since run out on us. A sign on his vacated office door directs constituents to contact our federal senators for any new business – which creates a helluva dilemma.
