POLO – A plea agreement may be near in the case of a Polo man seeking to overturn his conviction in an aggravated criminal sexual abuse case.

On Oct. 22, Shannan Haenitsch, 40, pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl in June and was given 4 years’ probation. He has been in Ogle County Jail on $100,000 bond since Nov. 19, accused of violating the terms of his probation.

He recently filed a motion to vacate his conviction and withdraw his guilty plea.

Tuesday, his attorney, Debra Schafer and Assistant State’s Attorney Mike Rock told Judge Robert Hanson that the case might be resolved next week, depending on how plea agreement discussions proceed.

Hanson set another hearing for Tuesday.

Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
