Oregon routs River Ridge in Forreston tourney quarterfinals

Hawks soar into semifinals

The Oregon Hawks advanced to the semifinals of the Forreston tournament on Tuesday with a 56-33 win over River Ridge. 

Caleb Mowry paved the way with 23 points in the post for the Hawks (7-2). Jessie McKinley Jr. scored 10 points as Oregon advances to play Aquin at 8 p.m. Thursday. 

Dakota 44, Morrison 32: The Mustangs were held to seven points in the second half after leading 25-20 at the break in Forreston. 

Hunter Hamstra had seven points to pace Morrison (1-10), and Matt Wilkens added six points. Brett Benning had a game-high 29 points for the Indians (5-2).

Riverdale 70, Amboy 44: The Rams employed a box-and-1 defense to limit Amboy's top scoring threat, Tyson Powers, to five points, and the Clippers fell in a Three Rivers game at home. 

Jordan Ernst led the way with 15 points for Amboy (3-6, 1-3). Damon Quest had 11 points. 

West Carroll tournament

East Dubuque 55, West Carroll 35: East Dubuque outscored the Thunder 17-3 in the third quarter to pull away in Mount Carroll. 

Jordan Bacero scored 10 points to lead West Carroll (2-5), and Nick Hughes added six points. Adam Lange led the Warriors (7-1) with 17 points.  

Fulton 54, Unity 37: The Steamers picked up their first win of the season, beating crosstown rival Unity at the West Carroll tournament.

Jake Willging scored 13 points for Fulton (1-9), while John Widener added 11 and Nick Fish had 10. The Steamers led 17-7 after one quarter and never looked back.

ROWVA-Ridgewood tournament

Prophetstown 54, ROWVA 46: The Prophets improved to 6-3 with a victory over one of the tournament host teams.

LaMoille 68, AFC 60: The Raiders led 20-10 after one quarter and 31-26 at the half before being outscored 42-29 in the second half of a nonconference home loss to the Lions.

Troy Mairs scored a team-high 20 points for AFC (4-4), which also got 14 points from Ermir Ramadani.

Faith Christian 44, Quad Cities Christian 26: Zach Lessman came off the bench and scored 12 points for the Falcons in a Northern Illinois Christian Conference win in Grand Detour. 

Isaac Weber had four points, but also had 10 rebounds, eight steals and five blocks. Adam Dettman added nine points for Faith (7-3, 2-1).
