ROCK FALLS – Leo J. Nardini, 76, of Rock Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.
He was born Aug. 1, 1936, in Rock Falls, the son of Nicodemo and Annunzita (Nardi) Nardini. He served in the Army. He married Margaret Heward on Oct. 27, 1962. Leo was the owner and operator of Gig’s Pizza in Rock Falls from 1966 to 1989. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls, and a 41-year member of the Coloma Park District Board. Leo was an avid supporter of all Rock Falls sports programs.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret; two sons: Michael (Christine) Nardini of St. Louis and Mark (Dawn) Nardini of Rock Falls; his daughter, Gina Nardini of Minneapolis; his sisters, Cecilia Wilson of Rock Falls and Ada Gugliuzza of Rockford; his brother, Ado Nardini of Rock Falls; and five grandchildren, Jordyn Heppler, Breu Knox, Lauryn Nardini, Niklaus Nardini, and Harry Adkins-Nardini.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Nevada Poci; his brother, Edelio Nardini; and a granddaughter, Melinda Heppler.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew Catholic Church, with Monsignor Thomas Dzielak, celebrant, officiating. Burial will be at Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Coloma Township Park District.
