Hopes to someday get a job in the medical field

Aaron Helander, 17, of Dixon, is Dixon High School's December Student of the Month. He is on the Sterling Stingray and Byron High swim teams, and wants to get into the medical field after graduation.

Aaron Helander, 17, of Dixon, is Dixon High School’s December Student of the Month. He is the son of Doris and Richard Helander of Dixon; his brother is Alex. The family has a dog named Lu-lu.

Favorite class: Spanish. I think it be awesome to become bilingual

Top teacher: Aaron Eddy, consumer ed. He is funny and I like his teaching style. He is also a fair and kind teacher.

Extracurriculars: I swim for Sterling Stingray Swim Club and Byron High School. I am in Rachel’s Challenge, National Honor Society and Immanuel Lutheran youth group.

After graduation: I would like to go into the medical field.

Paycheck: I work during the summer at Hosta Heaven, where I weed and take care of the gardens. I absolutely love it!

Who is your best friend? Warren Melton. He is such a great person, and spending time around him also will make you a better person.

Favorite singer or musical group: I like hip-hop.

Favorite actor: Will Ferrell.

Favorite movie: “UP!”

Hobbies: Swimming and climbing trees.

Favorite game or outdoor activity: Sharks and minnows.

Favorite food: A great steak.

Favorite place to shop: Dick’s Sporting Goods.

Biggest fear? Not succeeding in life.

Pet peeves? Laziness and disrespectfulness. I can’t stand them.

Haunts: You can find me at a pool or at a park. I love swimming and the outdoors.

I’m in the dictionary next to: Perseverance. I will not give up.

Personal trivia: I am always trying to make myself better any way possible.

Dream job: I would like to try being a Navy Seal.

Trading places: President Barack Obama, so I can see what his job is actually like.

Trading spaces: I would go to Tahiti. I hear it’s beautiful there, and I like warm weather.

What would you do if you had $100,000: I would put it in the bank to help pay for college or house once I’m done with college.

What do you wish your high school offered?: A college preparation class that would help with finding the right school for you, filling out applications and help with getting scholarships.

What’s a tip you would give freshmen for making high school life easier? Take challenging classes and be involved at the school. Go to as many events as you can.
