Bernard ‘Sonny’ Warkins

ROCK FALLS – Bernard “Sonny” Warkins, 87, of Rock Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Sonny was born Jan. 2, 1925, in Ohio, Ill. He married Lois Ousec on Dec. 28, 1947, in Peru. His beloved wife died Feb. 7, 2008. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls. Sonny served in the Navy during World War II, and was a member of the Rock Falls Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include two daughters, Yvonne Cater of Gainesville, Fla., and JoAnne (James) McCoy of Pensacola, Fla.; four sons, Michael (Deborah) Warkins of Vernon Hills, Patrick (Jacqueline) Warkins of Sterling, Timothy (Kathy) Warkins of Peola, Kan., and Thomas (Suzanne) Warkins of West Chicago; 15 grandchildren; Jeffery (Katherine) Cater, Shawn Witerington, James (Erin) McCoy, Jennifer (Ben) Ruddell, Jenty Pennington, Deanna Warkins, Jani McCoy, Ryan Warkins, Christopher Warkins, Benjamin Warkins, Seth (Johna) Warkins, Paul Warkins, Madeline Warkins, Emily Warkins, and Natalie Warkins; and 20 great-grandchildren, Harrison Cater, Anna Cater, Ryan Cater, Madison Witerington, Robert Witerington, Alexandria McCoy, Acadia McCoy, Chandon Carr, Daniel Pennington, Sarah Pennington, Vanessa Pennington, Jacob Pennington, Adam Pennington, Taegin Johnson, Daelin Johnson, Joseph Warkins, Haile Warkins, Lois Warkins, Isaac Ruddell, and Josh Ruddell; and one sister, Helen (Bill) Sheridan of Dixon.
