’Tis the season for gifts for your favorite outdoorsman
If my math is correct, I believe we have about 16 more wonderful December days until Christmas. I also know that the true spirit of Christmas is not about getting and giving gifts; however, it sure is cool any way you look at it.
It is time we take a look at what this outdoorsman wants for this Christmas ... and maybe, just maybe, I’ll touch on something you may want also. Then you can cleverly make sure that that special someone sees this article and voila, Christmas morning nirvana. Just like that, man.
Right off the bat, the first thing this ol’ boy would just love to see is a Go Pro Camera. These things are the cat’s meow. They are very small cameras and they mount on nearly anything. Just imagine having one of these bad boys mounted to your bow when you draw on your next monster buck. Or, maybe on the front of your dirtbike on your next trail ride. Who knows? All I know is these things are awesome. They come in high-definition or standard, and are very easy to upload and edit. You can check ’em out by going to gopro.com on the web and watching the video.
Whattaya mean you haven’t seen these ... you been living under a rock or something? Come on, man. By the way, these cameras run about 200 bucks – so they are affordable, as cameras go.
Next up on CatMatt’s old Christmas wish list are the fine custom catfish rods from Pole-Kat. Now, these things are just plain bad to the bone. Just imagine surprising the special fisherman or -woman in your life on X-mas morning with a rod specially built for them. Then imagine being able to do that for only 75 smackers.
You can slide you dentures back in, I ain’t lying. Just imagine a 40-year-old kid running circles around the tree when they open up this finely tuned piece of fishing weaponry. Loaded with stainless steel guides, spined by a professional, with their name on it and wrapped with their favorite color scheme. Are you kiddin’ me? This is a guaranteed home run.
Now, you can get your hands on one of these bad boys by contacting me at email@example.com. I will put you in touch with the man himself, William (a.k.a. Pole-Kat), a disabled veteran who spends all his time building these masterpieces. It is a definite win-win proposition.
How about a massage up at Small Town Massage, Hair and Care in Prophets-town? After a long year of climbing trees and settin’ hook, a massage is just the perfect thing. For more information, contact them at 815-537-9090.
You may want to buy that special someone a gun (while we are still allowed to have them). Head to Rigler’s in Rock Falls or Rock River Outfitters in Oregon. Either one of these fine dealers can get you exactly what you need ... that is, if you trust your special someone enough to buy them a firearm
(just sayin’). You can reach Rigler’s at 815-625-3319 and Rock River Outfitters at 815-732-9999.
Last, but not least, how about absolutely rockin’ Christmas morning when that guy or girl wakes up to a gift certificate with yours truly to go fishing for cats this upcoming season right here on the mighty Rock? Yes, I know, it is a shameless plug; fortunately, I am OK with that.
As for the great outdoors, it looks like we may have some snow in the forecast, so get outside and build a snowman or escape to the peace of the white woods or rub some snow in each other’s faces or ... hey, just do something.
