Lawyers: Cameras may have caught privileged talk
KANKAKEE (AP) – Attorneys for a man convicted of murder in the first Illinois trial to feature live, gavel-to-gavel TV coverage have raised concerns that cameras may have captured privileged exchanges between them and the defendant.
The (Kankakee) Daily Journal reports that a judge gave attorneys for Demetrious Jones at least until January to look further into the matter.
That means the 20-year-old won’t be sentenced until next month at the earliest.
