Newman girls beat Kewanee to remain unbeaten in TRAC

Tanner Klecker led Orangeville (1-5, 1-1) with 12 points. 

Kameron DawTyne had 12 points for Milledgeville (2-4, 0-2). Caleb Skoog added six points.  

Eastland 67, East Dubuque 51: Ty Hartman and Dalton Shaner combined for 44 points to lead the Cougars to a NUIC West win in Lanark. 

Hartman had 23 points on 10 field goals and three free throws. Shaner made nine 2s and three free throws for 21 points.. Austin Hansen added 12 points for Eastland (2-1, 2-0). 

Adam Lange made six 3-pointers and scored 24 points for East Dubuque (5-1, 1-1). 

Men's basketball

Sauk Valley 67, Kennedy-King 65: The Skyhawks built a double-digit halftime lead, watched it get trimmed to one, then pulled away again before holding off a late Kennedy-King charge to win on the road.

Daven Ottley had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Sauk (6-3), and Magd Owayed matched those 10 boards to go with his six points. Carlos Hendrix had 15 points and three steals, and drew praise for his poise from Sauk coach Russ Damhoff. Jalen Jones also hit double-figures for the Skyhawks, scoring 12 points.

"We really played a strong first half; I don't think we could've played any better," Damhoff said. "The game got more physical in the second half, and they took us out of what we wanted to do, but we did enough to hold on."
