AMBOY – Jerry Lynn Wren, 67, of Amboy, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood after an extended illness.

Jerry was born Sept. 7, 1945, in Cherry Valley, Ark., the son of J.W. and Ruby (Pruitt) Wren. He was a 1963 graduate of Rochelle Township High School.

Jerry is survived by one daughter, Melissa (Jeff) Thake of Amboy; brother, Lee (Sheree) Wren of Alpharetta, Ga.; sister, Pam Ullrich of South Beloit; one grandson, Logan Thake; longtime companion, Georgiette Notz of Niles; one nephew; and six nieces.

He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Wren, on March 21, 2007; by his brother, Ricky Wren, on Nov. 27, 2007; and by his parents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle. The service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. James Tilley officiating. Burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle.

Memorials will be established.

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
