Funds available in engineering

MORRISON – Local high school seniors seeking help to finance their college engineering education can apply for a scholarship through the Rock River Chapter of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers.

Applications are available until the Jan. 13 submission deadline. Forms can be picked up at public and private high schools in Bureau, Carroll, Lee, Ogle and Whiteside counties.

Submissions will be judged by national standard test scores, essays, transcripts and extracurricular activities. Scholarships are awarded to students attending an accredited engineering program.

The chapter will award at least one scholarship of $1,000. For more information, call Russ Renner, scholarship chairman, at 815-772-7651 daytime or 815-973-2100 evenings.
