CLINTON, Iowa – The 29th annual Bald Eagle Watch will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Clinton Community College, 1000 Lincoln Blvd., Clinton, Iowa, and at Lock and Dam 13 off of state Route 84 north of Fulton.
Educational programs and environmental exhibits for all ages will be at the college, with eagle viewing at the lock and dam.
A welcome session will be at 9:45 a.m. At 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., a live birds of prey program will be presented by Wildlife Prairie State Park of Hanna City.
At 11 a.m., Rudy Vallejo, a member of the Kickapoo Tribe of Kansas, will present a Native American dance in honor of the bald eagle. A DVD titled “Listen to the Eagles’ Message,” produced by Save Our Avian Resources, will be shown at 12:30 p.m.
Other programs and exhibits will feature a live bald eagle and other birds of prey, conservation groups, artists, drawings for door prizes and refreshments.
RC Smith of Morrison will provide a free bus shuttle from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. between the college and the lock, running every half-hour.
All activities are free; donations are accepted. Dress warmly, and bring your binoculars and cameras.
