U of I scholarship available to Lutherans

URBANA – Alumni of Beta Sigma Psi, the national fraternity for Lutheran men, will award their 25th annual scholarship at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.

The fraternity will give $1,500 to a confirmed Lutheran freshman male beginning his college studies at the campus during the fall of 2013. The deadline to apply is Jan. 31.

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
