MORRISON – Mary E. Huycke, 93, of Pleasant View Nursing Home in Morrison, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at the nursing home. She was employed by Volckmann Furniture Co. and General Electric in Morrison.

Mary was born Oct. 25, 1919, in Coleta, the daughter of William and Clara (Birdsley) Marshall. She married Kenneth A. Huycke on Aug. 14, 1948, in Morrison. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1969. Mary was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Janet Phillips of Morrison, Nancy (Vernon) Jackson of Rock Falls, Vicki Ratliff of DeWitt, Iowa, and Betty Fredricks of Florida; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Stephen G. Huggins; and one brother, Norman Marshall.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m., followed by the funeral at 2 p.m., Tuesday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison, with the Rev. Dan Schenck, pastor of Morrison United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
