Bowlers place at state competition

PEORIA – Special Olympics bowlers from across the state competed Dec. 1 at the state bowling tournament at Landmark Lanes in Peoria.

About 300 athletes took part. In bowling singles, two Leaf River residents placed. Martin McMahon with the Rockford Red Hots team won first. John Paul Miller with the Village of Progress team from Oregon won fourth place.

Diane Williams of Dixon with Kreider Service Inc. in Dixon took second place. James Johnson of Dixon, a member of the Gateway Services team from Princeton, took first place in bowling doubles with his teammate, Duane B. Rebholz of Princeton.
