Sterling loses at Alleman; Oregon falls to Mendota

Pioneers best Warriors

The Sterling Golden Warriors boys basketball team was outscored 17-9 in the fourth quarter on Tuesday in a 58-44 loss to Alleman in Rock Island. 

Zach Rehmert led Sterling (3-4) with 12 points. Zack Everett added 11 points. 

Kevin O'Keefe led Alleman with 15 points and Adam Hoogerwerf had 14 points. 

Mendota 51, Oregon 42: Caleb Mowry scored 21 points for the Hawks in a road los to the Trojans.

Oregon (5-1, 0-1 Big Northern West) was outscored 22-9 in the second quarter as the Trojans took control.

Trae Blumhorst had 17 points to lead Mendota (5-1, 1-0).

Erie 36, Morrison 22: Jacob Johnson scored 21 points for the Cardinals (3-3, 1-1) in a road Three Rivers victory over the Mustangs.

For Morrison (1-7, 0-3), Alex Volckmann had 11 points.

Cornerstone 59, Faith Christian 31: Isaac Weber had 20 points and collected 17 rebounds for the Falcons (4-3, 1-1 NICC) in a home loss.

For Cornerstone, Thomas Johnson tossed in 29 points and Michael Jorgensen added 12.


Hawks drop two: Brandon Skalvanitis (170) and Joe Diehl (195) each won matches for Oregon in losses to Lena-Winslow/Stockton (56-13) and Erie-Prophetstown (45-30) in Oregon.

For E-P, Brandon McCullough (113)and Josh Bowling (120) each recorded pins against Le-Win/Stockton. Josh Wheeler (132) and Dylan Binion (152) had pins against Oregon.

Raiders lose pair: AFC fell to Durand (48-27) and Morrison (47-13) and defeated Alden-Hebron (24-6) in a meet at Durand.

Jake Kaecker (152) and Andrew LeFevre (160) each won two matches for AFC.
