‘Entitlement’ society grows at alarming rate

The American people have re-elected an incompetent president of questionable background. Barack Obama learned the art of politics in Chicago. He planted himself in the South Side and was a community organizer. President Obama learned well; if he gave something to the victims in Chicago, they’d vote for him. Sounds like Mayor Daley’s machine.

Obama took his Chicago lessons to the national level. Forty-two percent of the people in Whiteside County receive some kind of federal assistance – not Medicare and not Social Security. Our entitlement society is growing at an alarming rate; 49 million people receive food stamps, even able-bodied men without children.

The number of people on disability has risen to almost 10 million. Obama relaxed the guidelines, so now more people qualify for Supplemental Security Income (SSI). With all the spending, Obama has added $5 trillion to the national debt in 3.5 years. We will pass this debt on to our children and grandchildren. The future looks grim, indeed.

Yes, my husband and I work very hard. He is 69 years old and goes to work every morning at 6 a.m. – even on weekends. He runs a business in Rock Falls and earns money. Why should he be punished with higher taxes for working hard and succeeding?
