Charles W. Ager

ROCK FALLS – Charles W. Ager, 82, of Rock Falls, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at his home. He worked for Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. as a crane mechanic for 36 years, retiring in 1991.

Born Oct. 14, 1930, he was the son of Charles and Ella (Howard) Ager. He was united in marriage to Patricia V. Coney on Sept. 13, 1966, in Lancaster, Mo.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia of Rock Falls; three sons, Scott Ager of Rock Falls, and Curtis Ager and Calvin Ager, both of Waterloo, Iowa; a daughter, Pam Larkey, and a brother, Robert Ager, both of Rock Falls; eight grandchildren, Jodi (Joe) Henson, Kristi (TJ) Moen, Jacob Lucas (Becca), Nicholas Larkey, Niles Ager, Curt Davis, Shalynn Boike and Christopher; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Wise saw collapse in support

Last week, Sterling Alderwoman Amy Viering attended her last meeting as a city official. She gave the usual praise one hears at such departures. But one compliment stuck out. At the end of her speech, she turned to City Administrator Scott Shumard and said, "You're awesome."
