Maybe feds should put end to holiday pay

I am still enough of a libertarian to allow private employers to do as they feel is right. But, with all of the current talk by atheists and anti-Christian groups about renaming or even eliminating religious holidays like Christmas, I feel that some changes should be made.

If we are to accept, as true, the lie that there is some inherent provision in the U.S. Constitution providing for the separation of church and state, would it not be incumbent on us to do something to fix violations to this honored provision?

And how better to start to remedy this situation than by starting at the top, so to speak?

Therefore, I recommend the following: that all federal employees lose any pay for religious holiday observances. From the top to the bottom – no more paid holidays for Good Friday, Christmas, even Thanksgiving and Halloween, as they are rooted in religious celebrations. And probably more that I can’t think of right now.

I wouldn’t want the day off being taken away, mind you; just the holiday pay. As Scrooge said, “I expect you’ll be wanting the whole day off, won’t you?” Well, some people would still want the day off, regardless of lost pay.

The various state governments should be left to decide for themselves on how to deal with this new way of things, but no doubt it would eventually filter all the way down to the local level.

Of course, in the notion of fairness, this must also apply to Jews, Muslims, and any other religious branch that gets paid religious holidays.
