KANKAKEE – Sharon Wiemken Trost, 64, of Kankakee, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012.

She was born March 16, 1948, in Sterling, to Dale L. and Eva Frances (Martin) Wiemken. She was a veteran, serving in the Air Force. She married John W. Trost on Aug. 20, 1988, in Kankakee. He died in 2008.

Survivors include her children, Chad (Stephanie) Dalton of Northfield, Ohio, Michelle (Don) Goble of Hastings, Minn., and Wendy (Josh) Norton of Bradley; stepdaughters, Angela (Drew) Haigh of Columbia, Mo., Kelly (Brian) Romito of Bradley and Julene (Greg) Sobol of Fairview Heights; sisters, Sue Schmaling of Sterling and Eva (Scott) Marion of Bradley; brother, Richard D. Wiemken of Sterling; and 15 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee. The service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rev. Chad Dalton officiating.

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
