OREGON – Margaret C. Johnson, 85, longtime Oregon resident, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon. She worked for the University of Illinois Ogle County Extension office for 30 years, retiring in 1999.

She was born Nov. 1, 1927, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Michael Joseph and Dorothy (O’Hare) Shelley. She was a 1946 graduate of Oregon Senior High School. She married Henry A. Johnson on July 14, 1948, in Oregon. He died July 28, 1995.

Margaret was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oregon. She enjoyed traveling, reading, writing short stories and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Kevin (Judy) Johnson of Mount Morris; daughter, Kathleen (Dan) Blasko of Minnesota City, Minn.; grandchildren, Jason (Bridget) Johnson, Christopher (Carrie) Johnson, David (Gail) Johnson, Erin Johnson, Sarah (Adam) Gilbertson and Melanie (Mitch) Hoffman; and great-grandchildren, Caleb, Nolan, Megan, Sawyer, Rally, Henry and Leah.

She also was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home in Oregon. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oregon with the Rev. Gary Blobaum, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.
