AMBOY – An Amboy man was in Lee County Jail Monday on $25,000 bond after police charged him with kicking in the sides of five cars at a local dealership shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday.

Addison M. Machen, 20, is charged with criminal damage to property, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of less than 2.5 grams of marijuana. His preliminary hearing is Dec. 12.

Machen was arrested at 6:31 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of North Metcalf Avenue.

Police were called just before 2 p.m. to Gertes Auto Sales, 128 S. Mason Ave., where the sides of five vehicles had been kicked, said Sgt. Jeff Blake, who estimated damage at $3,000 to $5,000.

Surveillance video from the dealership helped identify Machen, and police found drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana in his pocket when he was arrested, Blake said.

He also was wanted on a Whiteside County warrant for failure to appear on a charge of consumption of alcohol as a minor.

In September 2010, Machen was sentenced to 2 years in prison for burglary. That January, he was sentenced to probation for burglary.
