Rock Falls wins three at Oregon

The Rock Falls wrestling team pushed its record to a perfect 13-0 after three victories Saturday afternoon at the Oregon Quad.

The Rockets defeated Oregon 45-21, beat Polo 39-28, and topped Belvidere North 48-29. Rock Falls received four forfeits in each dual.

Winners of two contested matches for the Rockets were Shawn Skinner (195 pounds), Roman Luevano (220) and Josiah Torres (285). Tristan Dudley (106) won his lone match of the day.

The Oregon Hawks went 1-2, falling to Rock Falls and Belvidere North (41-40) and beating Polo 42-21. Winners of two contested matches for the Hawks were Garrett Rude (160), Brandon Sklavanitis (170) and John Brink (195); Taron Heck (170) won his lone match of the day.

Polo's Devin Steen won three contested matches at 152 pounds, while Ethan Cain (145) won both of his competed matches. Jesse Ditzler (126), Westen Ackeberg (160) and Zach Hagemann (170) all went 2-1 on the day.

Duchesses three-peat: Dixon won the eighth annual Oregon Hawk Invitational for the third straight season at Plum Hollow in Dixon.

The Duchesses bested Streator 2,013-1,916 in the bracket-style eight-team event. Autumn Day led the way for Dixon, placing second on the day with an 1,191 six-game series. Teammate Devan Gearhart was third on the day (1,178) and Emily Quaco was fifth (1,132).

Oregon, which finished eighth, was led by Amber Tucker's 16th-place 932 series.

Hawks win own tourney for first time: Oregon rode balanced scoring to the title at the eighth annual Oregon Hawk Invitational at Plum Hollow in Dixon, the first time the Hawks have won the event.

Oregon's Tyler Lathrop, Joe Miranda and A.J. Nordman finished eighth, ninth and 10th-place, respectively, to lead the Hawks, who defeated defending champion Dixon 2,013-1,916 in the championship match of the bracket-style eight-team event.

Lathrop rolled a 1,217 six-game series, Miranda an 1,166 and Nordman an 1,156. Dixon's Ryan Dixon (1,252) and Andrew Hamburg (1,246) finished 4-5.
