Comets cruise past Storm
Newman routs BV on road; Clippers beat Duchesses
The Newman Comets rolled to a Three Rivers win on the road Saturday night, as nine different players scored in a 72-21 rout of Bureau Valley in Manlius.
Mary Alice Oswalt scored a game-high 18 and Rachel Hageman added 17 points, five rebounds and five steals for the Comets (6-3, 3-0), who led 18-8 after one quarter before outscoring the Storm (1-7, 0-2) 22-7 in the second quarter and 26-0 in the third.
Bree deLong (10 points) also scored in double figures for Newman. Aubree Schmitt had seven assists and six steals, and Kayci Howell grabbed six rebounds.
Jazmine Delbridge and Nicole Bornsheuer scored four points each to lead BV.
Amboy 30, Dixon 20: The Clippers beat the Duchesses in Amboy, in a low-scoring affair where neither team scored in double figures in any quarter.
Brooke Bailey had 13 of the 20 points for Dixon (3-5). Autumn Smith and Kaitlyn Liebing scored 10 each for Amboy (4-4).
Alleman 54, Rock Falls 37: Morgan Mammosser and Jordan Giddings each scored 12 points for the Rockets (3-4) in a nonconference loss to the Pioneers in Rock Island.
Isabelle Anderson had 19 points to pace Alleman.
Erie 40, Fulton 37: The Cardinals shook off a slow start on the road to take home a Three Rivers victory.
Courtney Cobert had 13 points, nine steals and six rebounds for Erie (7-1, 2-1), which trailed 17-8 at halftime before bouncing back. Rachel Cobert added nine points and seven boards.
Katherine Wayne and Morgan Sanquist paced the Steamers (3-4, 0-2) with nine points apiece.
Aquin 55, Polo 38: The Marcos fell behind 30-16 by halftime and couldn't catch up to the Bulldogs in an NUIC East loss at home.
Keeley Meyer scored a game-high 14 points to pace Polo (2-5, 1-2), and Aleetra Roberts added nine points and nine rebounds.
Sophie Brunner and Haley Chang led Aquin (7-2, 3-0) with 10 points each.
Forreston 40, Milledgeville 28: Courtney Swalve scored 15 points for the Missiles (0-8, 0-3 NUIC West) in a home loss to the Cardinals.
Eastland 51, Winnebago 37: The Cougars cruised to victory at their own Shootout, taking a 31-14 lead by halftime and stretching it to 47-23 by the end of three quarters.
Lexis Macomber scored a game-high 14 points for Eastland (7-1), and Courtney Walker hit three 3-pointers and finished with 10 points as 10 different Cougars scored.
Sauk Valley 67, Lincoln Land 49: Lydia Box scored 21 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and had five steals as the Skyhawks (5-4) won the Lincoln tournament championship game.
Also for Sauk Valley, Kayla Barlow scored 13 points and had five steals, while Brianna Richardson had 12 points and four boards.
Emily Spaulding had 10 points for Lincoln Land.
