Victory Christian tournament

Faith splits in Indiana: The Faith Christian Falcons split two games a the Victory Christian tournament in Indiana.

Faith (3-2) lost its first game 41-39 in disputed fashion as Blake Hudson's 3-pointer with 3 seconds remaining was waved off because of a traveling call. Adam Dettman had 17 points.

Faith rallied to Family Faith Christian from Moline 53-50 in the second game. Dettman had 18 points and Kyle Beach added 13.

Men's basketball

Sauk Valley 69, St. Francis 64: Daven Ottley had 19 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks as the Skyhawks won the DuPage tournament in Glen Ellyn.

Also for Sauk Valley (5-3), Jalen Riley had 15 points and Magd Owayed added 13 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. Carlos Hendrix chipped in with 10 assists and seven points, with just three turnovers. He had a 17-to-5 assist-to-turnover ratio in the tourney.

Tyson Powers, Amboy, 31 points, 7 3-pointers

Parker Neuhalfen, BV, 22 points, 10-for-11 FTs

Daven Ottley, Sauk, 19 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks

Wise saw collapse in support

Last week, Sterling Alderwoman Amy Viering attended her last meeting as a city official. She gave the usual praise one hears at such departures. But one compliment stuck out. At the end of her speech, she turned to City Administrator Scott Shumard and said, "You're awesome."
