Duchesses, Hawks win on road; Rockets fall in Rockford

Warriors lead wire-to-wire

Stephanie Kester hit four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 14 points to lead Sterling past Geneseo 38-27 on Friday in both teams’ NIB-12 West opener at Geneseo.

Sterling (4-3, 1-0) led 13-4 after one quarter and 23-8 at the half. Kaitlyn Bauer tossed in nine points for the Warriors, while Kiarra Harris had six points and a team-high five rebounds.

Dixon 49, Streator 36: Brooke Bailey tossed in 20 points and Kacie Dillow added 16 to lead the Duchesses to a road win against the Bulldogs.

Dixon (3-4, 1-0 NIB-12 West) took charge with an 18-6 third-quarter surge.

Lutheran 50, Rock Falls 38: The Rockets were outscored 9-4 in the fourth quarter of a Big Northern West loss in Rockford.

Jordan Giddings led the way with 17 points and eight rebounds for Rock Falls (3-3, 0-1), while Bailey Schrader added 10 points and eight boards. Morgan Mammosser had seven points, five rebounds and three assists.

Rachel Konieczki scored a game-high 21 points for the Crusaders (6-0, 1-0).

Oregon 49, Stillman Valley 41: Emylyn Wright scored 17 of her game-high 21 points in the second half, leading the Hawks past the Cardinals in BNC West play at Stillman Valley.

Oregon (4-2, 1-0) trailed 10-4 after one quarter and 23-17 at the half. The Cardinals (2-6, 0-1) led 30-29 after three quarters. The Hawks, who also got eight points apiece from Devyn Absher and Bree Tourtillot, outscored Stillman 20-11 in the fourth quarter to get the win.

Women’s basketball

Sauk Valley 75, Lincoln 65: Lydia Box’s 32 points, nine rebounds and four steals led the Skyhawks to victory on the road.

Sheldeen Joseph added 11 points and six boards for Sauk (4-4), which pulled away after taking a 38-34 lead into halftime. Brianna Richardon had 10 points and six rebounds, and Holly Nicklaus finished with six points, eight rebounds and six assists.
