The Amboy Clippers wrestling team won a pair of dual meets at home Thursday, downing Newman 39-20 and Putnam County 42-30. The Comets lost 54-30 to Putnam County in the third match of the triangular.
Amboy’s lone winner of a contested match against Newman was Ryon Richardson at 132 pounds. Clipper winners against Putnam County were Trever Ullrich (126), Dristan Beetz (132), Skyelar Zimmerley (138), Chris Jones (145), Jason Bontz (152) and Dallas Appleman (182). Ullrich, Beetz, Bontz and Appleman all won by pin.
Newman filled just six weight classes, and won five against Amboy and all six against Putnam County. Winners of two contested matches for the Comets were Eli Monier (120) and Brady Rude (145), with Monier recording two pins.
Dixon drops two at home: The Dukes lost to Sandwich (59-15) and Ottawa (45-24) in a triangular at The Pit.
Trent Brinkmeier (132 pounds) and Shane Emry (170) were double-winners for Dixon, each winning a pin and a decision.
Erie-Prophetstown wins twice at home: The Panthers beat Morrison 39-28, then recorded nine pins in 11 matches in a 77-6 rout of Princeton.
Double-winners in contested matches for E-P were Brandon McCullough (106 & 113 pounds), Jared Cole (138), Dylan Binion (152), Noah Eads (170) and Jace Bright (285, 220), with McCullough taking a pair of pins.
Morrison defeated Princeton 48-27 in the third match of the triangular. Winners of two contested matches for the Mustangs were Austin Keller (145), Nolan Dykema (160), Austin Shoup (182) and Calvin Harridge (220, 195); Keller and Shoup both won with a pair of pins.
Oregon splits at home: The Hawks beat North Boone 42-18 and lost to Harvard 49-25 at the Blackhawk Center.
Ashton Rutherford won a pair of contested matches at 145 pounds, while Oregon also got two wins at 182 from John Brink and Brandon Sklavanitis.
Dixon 3,628, Hall 3,262: The Dukes rolled to a nonconference win in Spring Valley, as Andrew Hamburg and Ryan Dixon combined for five 200 games out of six.
Hamburg finished with a 685 series, capped by a 257 in his final game; Dixon had a 623 by starting off with a 213 and 217. Connor Allen (595) and Josh Rex (594) also threw complete series for the Dukes.
Al Baldonado (664 series, 236 high game) and David McManus (652 series, 254 high game) paced the Red Devils.
Sterling 3,102, DeKalb 2,982: Brandy Behrens and Amber Granzow both rolled 578 series to lead the Golden Warriors to an 8-2 victory at Mardi Gras Lanes in DeKalb.
Behrens started with games of 204 and 202, while Granzow’s second game of 232 was her best. Destinee Howard added a 544 series for Sterling.
Kodee Underwood bowled a match-high 626 series, led off with a 234 high game.
Dixon 3,086, Kaneland 2,637: Autumn Day rolled the match’s lone 600 series to lead the Duchesses to their third consecutive 10-0 victory in NIB-12 play.
Day’s 609 was highlighted by her opening 232 game. Emily Quaco added an opening game 214 en route to a 562 series, and Devan Gearhart capped her 523 with a 202 game.
Morgan Wojaechowski (520) and Christine Crews (513) paced the Knights.
