Clippers, Panthers sweep triangulars at home

The Amboy Clippers wrestling team won a pair of dual meets at home Thursday, downing Newman 39-20 and Putnam County 42-30. The Comets lost 54-30 to Putnam County in the third match of the triangular.

Amboy’s lone winner of a contested match against Newman was Ryon Richardson at 132 pounds. Clipper winners against Putnam County were Trever Ullrich (126), Dristan Beetz (132), Skyelar Zimmerley (138), Chris Jones (145), Jason Bontz (152) and Dallas Appleman (182). Ullrich, Beetz, Bontz and Appleman all won by pin.

Newman filled just six weight classes, and won five against Amboy and all six against Putnam County. Winners of two contested matches for the Comets were Eli Monier (120) and Brady Rude (145), with Monier recording two pins.
