FRANKLIN GROVE – Donald E. Fowkes, 90, of Franklin Grove, formerly of Dixon, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at Franklin Grove Nursing Center after an extended illness. He retired from Daubert Products as a machine operator.

He was born March 5, 1922, in Beatrice, Neb., the son of Eddie R. and Nora (Lust) Fowkes. He married Loraine Neumeister on June 13, 1948, in Scotland, S.D. She preceded him in death on Aug. 20, 1989.

Survivors include his sons, Robert (Nichola) Fowkes of Dixon and Douglas (Mary) Fowkes of Clinton, Iowa; a brother, James (Myrna) Fowkes of Sioux City, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by two grandsons.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon, with the Rev. Janet Wittenmyer of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dixon officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.
