Registration due for workshop

OREGON – Registration is due Wednesday for an evergreen and poinsettia workshop that will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Ogle County Extension office, 421 W. Pines Road.

Candice Miller, a horticulture educator with University of Illinois Extension, will demonstrate how to make wreaths, swags, garlands, and kissing balls using various evergreens, and will discuss poinsettia care.

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
