Music to take center stage

MORRISON – The Morrison School District’s music department will perform a free holiday concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the high school, 643 Genesee Ave.

Before the concert, the Morrison Music Boosters will serve a pork chop supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.

Tickets are $6 in advance, available from music students or at True Value Hardware, 104 S. Genesee St.; and $7 at the door.

The junior high and high school jazz bands will perform in the cafeteria during the dinner.

The sixth-grade chorus will begin the holiday concert in the auditorium, followed by the seventh- and eighth-grade chorus, all directed by Cynthia Perrizo. The MHS Madrigals and symphonic choir also perform next, directed by Kathy Janicek.

District bands also will perform, directed by David Bean. The junior high band will play “A Christmas Tryptich” and “Joyful all Ye Nations.” The high school band will perform “A Christmas Festival” by Leroy Anderson and the Overture to “The Messiah” by George F. Handel.

This past week, Morrison Southside School fifth-grade band members presented their first public concert Thursday during an assembly in the school gymnasium.
